Kerala BJP leader V Muraleedharan said on Thursday that people would understand who the real Opposition is when the Assembly begins.
Muraleedharan, who won as a BJP candidate from the Kazhakoottam constituency, was responding to the media ahead of taking his oath as an MLA in the 16th Kerala Legislative Assembly.

He alleged that both the UDF and LDF have historically engaged in mutual compromises. This simulated rivalry will end now that the BJP has a formal voice in the House.
He asserted that the newly-expanded three-member BJP contingent would expose this hypocrisy and act as the only “true Opposition” championing the state’s welfare. “We will be the real Opposition, and the rest are a pseudo opposition. We will see what happens when the assembly proceedings begin. For so long, these two have engaged in mutual compromise. It will not happen again. We, the BJP, will work in the interests of the country. We will work for the development of Kerala,” said Muraleedharan.
The BJP plans to push its own version on major public policy, development, and administrative corruption issues where the other two fronts align. The party is aggressively positioning itself to champion the “politics of development” aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. Signaling that they will not remain passive observers despite their small numbers, the party announced the candidature of BB Gopakumar for the assembly Speaker’s election on Friday, forcing a rare, multi-cornered contest.
